Family Night Classes
Dates: once a month December-March
Time: 5:00-6:00PM
Location: Growing Oshkosh Urban Farm Site (530 Bay Shore Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54901)
Who: All families are welcome to visit the farm during this time, but parents are responsible for their children
Cost:$10/family-due at time of program
Content: Keep the gardening spirit alive through Wisconsin's winter! Once a month Growing Oshkosh is offering family friendly classes that include a lesson and a build project. Please see below for details regarding each class and to register.
Space is limited, and families must pre-register using our online form. Forms will be processed in the order they are received until classes are full and are due 1 week before class is held. Participants will be notified by email confirmation of their status in each class.
Course offerings:
February 21, 2017: Bee Condos & Pollinator Trivia Night- learn how mason bees are non-aggressive, native, and incredible allies while making them a home
March 14, 2017: Model Aquaponics System-discover the incredible way fish and food grow together and make your own model system to take home
Summer 2017 Programs


Earth Day Celebration & Bat House Build with Code Orange Lego League Team
Date: April 7, 2017
Time: 5:30-7:00PM
Location: Growing Oshkosh Urban Farm Site (530 Bay Shore Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54901)
Who: All families are welcome to visit the farm during this time, but parents are responsible for their children
Cost: Suggested donation $10 for both stations
Content: Celebrate Earth Day as a family at the farm! There will be two stations at this event, and families are free to choose one or both to partake in their visit. Join Growing Oshkosh Staff and make bird seed treats while learning about the importance of native birds. Then, join Code Orange Lego League team in learning about the importance of bats. Build a bat house to keep and take home a children's book on bats written by Code Orange to help bring these friendly, insect-eating animals to your neighborhood.
Participants wishing to make a bat house at this event must preregister here. Registration will remain open until March 31, 2017. Please note that we will move the program indoors in the event of poor weather.
*Note-we will NOT be using peanuts in our bird seed treats to keep this event as allergy-friendly as possible.


Mother's Day Flower Power Pots
Date: May 12, 2017
Time: 5:30-7:00PM
Location: Growing Oshkosh Urban Farm Site (530 Bay Shore Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54901)
Who: All families are welcome to visit the farm during this time, but parents are responsible for their children
Cost: Suggested donation $5
Content: Stop by the Children's Learning garden and make a gift for Mom! Decorate a pot, fill it with a flower, and take it home the same night. This is a free-flowing event, so come when you can, and stay as long as you wish.
No registration is necessary for this event. Please note that we will move the program indoors in the event of poor weather.
*Note: The event will run as long as supplies last.
Farm Family Time
Dates: Every Tuesday, May 16-August 29, 2017.
Time: 5:30-7:00PM
Location: Growing Oshkosh Urban Farm Site (530 Bay Shore Drive, Oshkosh, WI 54901)
Who: All families are welcome to visit the farm during this time, but parents are responsible for their children
Cost: FREE
Content: Come spend time on the farm, as a family. Each week, families will get to spend time together in the Children's Learning Garden while helping care for and harvest the gardens. Any harvested produce is shared among the families, and occasional weeks will have specific youth oriented activites. It's a free, semi-structed time for families to enjoy time together while learning more about gardening and food. There is no family limit for these times; produce will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
No registration is necessary for this event. Please note that we will not run the program in the event of poor weather-- please check our facebook page for updates.
We will NOT be having Farm Family Time on July 4th, 2017.

Food draws people together, and that's why Growing Oshkosh has devoted a portion of our mission to developing programs specifically for families. Due to the seasonality of farming, different events will reflect the current season in their educational content as the farm is in constant motion. Updates will be made regularly!
